What an amazing summer God has given us! We are blown away by the great work he has done in Newark in the lives of the children; our best summer yet by far. Thank you for your prayers, support, and faithfulness in helping Safe Haven redeem Newark by redeeming the next generation. A more detailed and updated report will be coming to you in September, but right now I am writing to ask for help in an urgent need we face. It is always hard to do this when I look around the world at all the really urgent needs, especially in Pakistan right now. Our need is not so urgent compared to theirs. But as I woke up this morning God gave me this idea for a 24 hour blitz and reminded me what Jesus said in John 16 about asking in His name and receiving. In the midst of all the needs out there I am asking those who love and support Safe Haven and believe in our mission to Newark to help us.

Here is our situation.
Our last payroll for the summer programs is this Friday and we are $4,000 short. We are asking all Safe Haven supporters to do the following as God leads.
1. Fulfill pledges. If you have made pledges to help us this summer and have not yet fulfilled them please do so now by clicking here.
3. Create a fundraising page and help us raise the support we need. Our new online fundraising tool allows you, our supporters, to create your own fundraising page, set a goal for how much you want to raise for us and then effectively invite people to help you help us. (it is really cool)
Our payroll is due by this Thursday morning. Some of our staff are willing to not get paid or get paid less, but I really would like to see them provided for. They have all worked so hard spending themselves for God’s Glory and others this summer and have done an amazing job. Please do not feel obligated to give to this need. God the creator knows our needs and is in control over our small one as well as the large ones. (Like the 4 million homeless in Pakistan.) I hate writing these things because they always seem to come across like begging. I am really more than anything inviting you, our precious team of prayer warriors and supporters, to join us in watching God meet our needs as He always does and continue the work He has started in Newark through us. Please pray for us and do what you can with joyful giving hearts as God leads and in response to His grace given so freely in Christ. This year we are operating our 6 week long summer camp for $15,000. The way we typically raise these funds is through sponsorships. Donors go to our sponsorship page and choose one of the 45 kids attending summer camp and can sponsor them.
We are still behind $10,000 and desperately need sponsors for our camp that starts in two weeks to be a reality.
Very few kids in our community could afford the cost of our camp so we ask for generous sponsorships to help offset the cost. It costs us $310 per child to operate our camp and we only charge parents $10/ week. To sponsor a child for the whole summer costs $250, which we raise through our sponsorship page.
You can also form a team and raise funds through your personal network to sponsor a kid. Our viral fundraising tool lets you create your own team and makes it easier than ever to help make a difference in these precious kid’s lives.
Please help us give each a kid an amazing summer that will change their lives forever.
Each kid will have the ability to interact with you during camp to let you see what kinds of things they are doing and learning. You may either fully or partially sponsor a child. The cost of full sponsorship is $250.

What Happens at Summer Camp?
Safe Haven Summer Camp is six weeks long and goes from July 7th – August 13th. Every day the kids arrive at our facility at 9 am for a balanced breakfast and then spend the next three hours in various development programs. After a healthy lunch, we have many different educational and recreational activities. Safe Haven Summer camp is also a job development and mentorship program for teenagers from the community. This year we have 50 kids registered for camp and 15 youth staff helping run it.

Summer camp is rapidly approaching and we still have not been able to raise the funds to fix our vehicles. God has provided us with wonderful vehicles that have served us well these past years and we need them more than ever this summer.
Our Black Van (The Black Stallion) had a transmission failure. Our local mechanic said he can replace it for $1500.00 Is it worth it? We think it is, unless someone is willing to donate another 12-15 passenger van for us.
Our Bus is running strong, but it has some minor repairs ($500) to pass inspection.

As our ministry continues to grow and we are seeking to grow our administrative infrastructure to help us maximize our service to the community. Our ink jet printer broke last week and we desperately need a new one. We prefer to upgrade to a laser printer, which is cheaper printing costs though a more expensive initial investment. We do so much printing the ink cartridges get expensive. Below is the printer we are hoping to get for our office.
